A few days after Christmas, I posted the following status…“I ‘de-Christmased’ the house today, but am happy to report that Jesus is welcome year round. In fact, He’s taken up residence in my heart.” In a subsequent post, I quoted our friend, C.S. Lewis…“You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage, but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.”
Wow. Just wow.
Of much less spiritual implication, but still to my sheer delight, I also shared a picture of my brand new boots. And, yes, I completely heart them and may very well be Spirit-led to visit Nashville’s Wildhorse Saloon in the not too distant future. If given the chance, girl can line dance. Just sayin’.
Then, just before New Year’s, I made another post. Just one word: “Goals?”
And you responded…
Cindy – Learn more about healthy healing foods; keep on the same track of being me!
Ed – Remain in the Lamb’s Book of Life and continue to tell people of the Gospel of Jesus!
Jim – Healthy diet, increased exercise, and working hard to increase my understanding of and paying better attention to the Holy Spirit.
Christina – Lose weight!
Lori – Put love in action.
Romey – Exercise more & stick to a budget.
David – Travel more!
Philip – Simplify my life even more.
Suzanne – Counting it ALL joy.
Tammy – Compassion, health, joy.
Michele – To cross paths with you again!
Meredith – Listening to what the Lord has in store for me!
Brian – Systems instead.
Dennis – Work on discipline & perseverance.
Mitch – To serve God better.
Keith – Not sure yet…maybe the same ones as last year.
Eric – Drop 10 lbs quickly that I gained the last month. Seriously.
Steve – Make new friends, learn something new and visit some place new.
Aaron – Lose 20 lbs and read God’s Word more.
Thank you for your courage in sharing. Somehow it makes it more official when you see it in type. Though you may not have guessed your comments would end up in my blog; in my defense, I used first names only, to protect the innocent.
Me – I know it sounds simple, but I plan to drink more water, starting with a 16 oz bottle first thing every morning and continuing throughout the day. I may or may not venture into the world of Instagram. I may or may not lose weight. I may or may not get back to work on my book. I may or may not take steps toward another album. At a minimum, I will write songs, and if struck by writer’s block, will trust God to inspire, and additionally, arm myself with an affirmative weapon taught by the book, The Artist’s Way…”I am a brilliant and prolific songwriter.” Lastly, I may or may not run a marathon, though I will cheer for those who do and try not to hate them. Just as you will fight against boot envy.
All kidding aside, the one thing I can say with certainty that I will continue to do, and this only by God’s grace and equipping…is to know Christ and make Him known, ministering His message of Hope and Healing through song, speech, and the written word; to tell of His goodness and compel others to do the same for the glory of God.
I will endeavor to make every day count, in agreement with my take-away line from the movie, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel…”there is no present like the time.” Yes, you read that correctly. And I shall be careful to remember the Sabbath.
Can I share one more present?!! A gift from my sweet son and daughter-in-love…
a custom, one-of-a-kind Keaggy family calendar! Turned here to my birthday month, if you look close you’ll see two pictures from my son’s wedding day (proud mother of the groom), one from when he was really little at Disneyland (check out those glasses!), and another of the two of us embracing fresh after his baptism in our neighbor’s pool on the eve before his wedding. Best. Gift. Ever.
Lord, teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Here’s to you, you brave and courageous goal-setters! You were born for greatness. God is great and if He’s living in You, that makes you great, too.
NOW, GO GET’EM!!!!!!!
Grateful to be journeying with you…
