Selfish title, I know. It’s not all about me. It’s about Jesus, right?
Yes. Usually.
As the title suggests, this week’s blog is all about me. I want to pause for just a moment to celebrate a personal achievement. We have enough things to get down on ourselves about, right? It should be an acceptable and even healthy practice to celebrate our victories every now and then. With this blog, I allow myself to relish just a bit in the self-satisfaction of a goal realized. It’s a small feat, perhaps, but an accomplishment nonetheless. Maybe even blogworthy.
Below is what I posted last January around this time…
This will be a very brief blog. The goal: to share my new year’s resolution. Yes, it’s time to step it up. No more slacking here. I have officially decided to move from blogging once-a-month to…(drumroll, please)…
ONCE-A-WEEK!!!
Let the games begin.
In January 2012, I set a goal. Fast forward to January 2013, and I think I did pretty darn good. With the exception of missing a week here or there, I definitely stepped it up in the blog department and have the archives to prove it. You might say I am full of pride, the good kind.
While most of my entries seek to encourage others, this week’s entry is solely about me. I want to encourage me, pat myself on the back, say “good job, Cheri!”, and make no qualms about it. Afterall, the Lord commanded in Mark 12, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Emphasis mine. In short, I love you better when I love me, too. It’s entirely biblical.
So, please forgive my blog-brag. I’m just happy about having followed through with something I set out to do. It feels good. I challenged myself and gained much through the experience. In fact, I enjoyed it so much I am inclined to continue my blog-once-a-week commitment into next year. And I promise I shall no longer speak of myself in such superlatives. Commence boasting in the Lord next week. I get most of my ideas from Him anyway.

Perhaps I should adopt your blog strategy, Mine has been stalled for months.
Now that Deborah and I are spending a couple months in the Keys, whoo-hoo, I, when rested, will be back blogging again and share with you if you desire.
Knowing your heart as we saw it, there is no way we see your blog as self-seeking. God knows your heart, and this step back towards discipline is not of yourself only. Praise God for bringing you to this point and further as you continue serving Him in your known humility and love.
