Looking for something on my desk today, I stumbled on a familiar piece of paper…the Bible in 50 Words. Is that even possible? Someone thought so. And I would happily give credit where credit is due, if I only knew who. That sounded almost Dr. Suessical.
Most would agree the Bible is a Very Big Book. From Genesis to Revelation, there are 66 books in all; 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New. One could literally study it for a lifetime. And that’s what I intend to do. Still, it’s awefully handy to have it condensed to just 50 words, don’t you think?!
If you have even a minute to spare, I invite you to read this short but powerful presentation of God’s amazing story (read aloud for maximum impact).
God made
Adam bit
Noah arked
Abraham split
Joseph ruled
Jacob fooled
Bush talked
Moses balked
Pharoah plaqued
People walked
Sea divided
Tablets guided
Promise landed
Saul freaked
David peeked
Prophets warned
Jesus born
God walked
Love talked
Anger crucified
Hope died
Love rose
Spirit flamed
Word spread
God remained
Underlined, earmarked, and highlighted, I can barely articulate how truly grateful I am for the Word that sets me free every day. I honestly don’t know where I’d be without Him.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…In Him was Life, and that Life was the Light of men.” (John 1:1&4)
Still completely wonderstruck,
Cheri

Hi Cheri! That`s awsome! I agree that the Bible should be read and studied for a lifetime. Even with all the nicer magazines, wonderful novels, informative biographies and newspapers in the world today, nothing beats our life guide, THE BIBLE. And if someone has never read it before, I think the condensed version would surly entice them to. Thanks!

Thanks for another great post. That is probably the best short summary of the Bible I’ve ever read.

I saw this 50 words you posted many years ago. It is still meaningful to me. I personally think the Bible is vital to believers’ spiritual life (except those who can not read for a reason. They can get the Biblical messages by other means.) According to my personal observation, many Christians only like to remember a few verses and quote wrongly very often. They remain “Old Babies” (Hebrews 5:13-14).

This is very good way to describe the Bible. One correction, though.
Jacob Fooled before Joseph Ruled

Yes. Joseph is Jacob’s son.
